Saved from San Diego, Texas AS- Ryder arrived to the small Texas shelter weeks ago. He was being tormented and abused by children. They kicked and shot him with BB guns. Poor Ryder is so unsure of human interaction. He wants to trust but he is scared and defeated. Because of the Urgent Pets of South Texas volunteer group, NYBC was asked if we could help Ryder in any capacity. No other rescue answered their pleas and Ryder was in serious need of saving. His sad eyes broke our hearts and we immediately started to network with our Texas colleagues to see how we could safely get Ryder the help he needed. We called upon our friend Amanda, who rescued Houston the beginning of the year. She quickly got a plan together and sprung into action. Successfully, Ryder was released and had his initial vet check. He does have intestinal parasites but amazingly tested negative for heartworm. And although he does need a muzzle, that is just until he builds the confidence to feel safe round people. After all, it was humans that failed him. We do know that he enjoys the company of other dogs. So please consider being a part of Ryder’s rehabilitation so we can all watch him blossom and flourish and enjoy just being a dog.
