11/1/19 Update- Diagnosed with Parvovirus.
This is heartbreaking. The sisters have been through so much already and now to be stricken with this deadly virus is unfair.
They cling to each other for comfort, for safety. Please pray for them.
Iclyn and Eira presented with vomiting and bloody stool.
Their foster mom immediately brought them to the hospital where they tested positive for parvovirus.
Being dumped in a garbage dumpster and then admitted to the shelter is most likely the root of this potentially deadly virus.
The girls are solated and treated with supportive care such as IV fluids and medications but they need to fight this virus to survive.
We are worried that their weakened immune systems due to the neglect and mange will compromise their ability to recover.
Before the girls were able to visit specialists to make sure this congenital condition hasn’t affected any other organs besides their eyes and ears,
hey have been stricken with this ugly virus.
We have named them Iclyn and Eira, symbolizing the purity of Winter. Covered in painful mange, blind and deaf, these two sweet sister puppies are now safe with New York Bully Crew. We are told that the pups were found abandoned in an apartment complex dumpster. Underweight, hungry and scared, the siblings cling to each other for comfort.
After an overwhelming amount of outreach for the safety and well-being of these two sisters, NYBC made sure we were able to secure their rescue and get them to a foster family so they could begin to heal and decompress after being released from San Antonio Animal Care Services.
They are safe with their foster family and will be visiting specialists in congenital deficits to make sure we do everything we can for them.
Proper nutrition and medication protocol will get the demodex mange under control.
Please consider donating to the sisters so we can support their special needs.
