HELP ME GET SEEN & ADOPTED!
As we have known, we would need these pups in the very best hands, given their mama Aurora’s medical condition. The pups are all under the watchful eyes of master fosters @doggirl110and @jombie626 . Early last week Jen noticed baby girl OCEAN, wasn’t quite at the activity level of the others. She wasn’t holding her head up like the others and taking no chances we quickly contacted the specialists and got her and the others in for an exam. The initial concern was that Ocean could potentially have one of three possible medical issues. After examining her, it was noted that her skull hadn’t completely formed and was delayed in “closing”. Initially, the possibility of her wearing a protective helmet had been discussed but after her second visit only a few days later, the specialist was happy with the quick progress she’s already made on the medications she administered. The specialist decided to begin steroids and omeprazole. A possible CT scan was to be ordered, and bloodwork was run. Her bloodwork came back in normal ranges and the doctor is convinced Ocean has hydrocephalus. It is clear that the vigilance of her foster mom, Jenn, to have recognized the signs very early, literally have avoided a crisis for Miss Ocean! The early detection and treatment, allowed Ocean something her mother Aurora didn’t have at a young age… the possibility of a normal life! Medications are working well and Doc is confident she will go on to live a normal life. She will need continual weight checks to make sure her medication dosage is on point! The hope is to ween her off steroids soon and continue with check ups on all pups. We are eternally grateful to Jen and Jay for their intuition and we vow to give Ocean absolutely everything she needs to ensure she has what all dogs deserve, both health and happiness! All pups will need continual assessment to make sure their hearts are good! Check #1 went well and doc will recheck at 8 weeks.
