ABOUT ME:

8/31/19 ~ REST PEACEFULLY ADDIE
“You are gone, but thank you for all these soft, sweet things you have left behind – in my home, in my head, in my heart….”
-As eulogized by Addie’s family @soulsofsatos
The dreadful post, I was hoping to avoid somehow, but that’s just not how #cancer works. Our beautiful Addie girl passed away in our home yesterday. We were right next to her, whispering in her ear how much we loved her, while she took her last breath. She was loved and we know she felt it. As much as I want to write a sad post about how heartbroken we are, I’m not going to do that, that part goes without saying. Instead, I’m going to focus on the good, I mean, how lucky are we?! We got to spend six weeks with Addie when the specialist sent us home and gave us 48 hours. SIX WEEKS Addie lived in our home, as part of our family eating lots of chicken and getting so much love she probably was sick of it at times.  She found us for a brief moment in this life and we are HONORED we got to call her ours. We know she is gone, but we also know she is enjoying the next stage of her life, cancer free and with a body that works. Her soul is at rest, but her heart lives on – we feel it!
Thank you @jonathantorres19 for helping us save her and constantly checking on her, you sure did love her.  We know you were offered other help when you found Addie, but we are so grateful you trusted us with her care. Addie was meant to find us in this life, she couldn’t have been in better hands and she was deeply, deeply loved!  Thank you for allowing NYBC to be part of Addie’s beautiful story. We know her heartache of the past was erased by the overwhelming love she was given in the end.
Run like a puppy with the angels Addie. You are loved deeply.

7/21/2019 Update: Addie had her preliminary evaluation at the clinic.  She is still waiting for her appointment at the specialist but her x-rays prove hip dysplasia, she is severely dehydrated, flea infested and her bowels are impacted.  She is struggling but our colleagues are keeping her comfortable on pain medication.  We still do not have an answer about the rear leg.  It is extremely swollen and she will not bear weight on it. Please pray for Addie.

When you think of a Rottweiler, you think beautiful, regal. It is also an honor  to have such a stunning dog, sad that some people don’t think that way. Instead, they think “guard dog” or look at them as a breeding machine to make money, this girl is an example of that. We don’t know her story yet, but look at her bones, she shouldn’t be this weight! She is severely malnourished and unable to move.  Something has happened to her back legs.  She was abandoned on the road, eating scraps that people have left for her.  She has dragged herself into the woods, laying on branches and thistle.  This is heartbreaking.  Our dear colleague, @soulsofsatos in Puerto Rico, reached out to NYBC to ask for assistance as Addie will need all the support she can get for her intensive care.  Please consider helping us help Addie and getting her the necessary medical treatment.

Whatever her past has been, it’s a SAD one. But we vow to make sure her future is filled with unconditional love and respect.
