HELP ME GET SEEN & ADOPTED!
With the heaviest hearts we are sadden to announce that our beloved Houston has crossed the rainbow bridge.
To say that our very special boy has touched the hearts of so many is an understatement. Houston was our first Texas rescue. He opened our hearts to the despair of the Texas dogs and made us realize that no matter the geographical location, there is always a way to make a difference in a dog’s life.
Although Houston’s body and health was compromised from the neglect he suffered in Texas, his unconditional love grew and grew with each day that he spent being spoiled.
Our boy had many fosters along his journey. Each of them adored Houston beyond measure. He had a way of stealing your heart the moment his eyes met yours.
His finally loving family spent his last months doting in Houston’s every need and desire. His days were filled with silliness and companionship and surrounded by the purest of love.
Houston passed in his own terms, at his home. We would like to think he was finally satisfied with experiencing true love and devotion is and that he left feeling at peace.
We cannot express our gratitude to everyone that held Houston’s heart in their hands because it truly took a large community to save him, from Texas to Conneticut to Massachusetts to NYC to New Jersey. Our beautiful boy made sure he stole hearts across our land. So thank you Houston, for making us fall in love with you.
Now run free with all the angels and play like a puppy once again. Rest peacefully beautiful Houston.
You are loved.
While stopping for gas in the southernmost point of Texas, along the Mexico border, Amanda saw a little head peeking out from a ditch. As she approached, this scared, starving boy crawled to her to take a treat. He is emaciated, his body is is just skin covering bones. He is missing a toe and nail, he is bald, and he has huge masses on his body. But he is sweet and gentle and he knew this was the only chance to be saved. How many people must have turned their backs on him at this station? But being an independent rescuer herself, Amanda could not leave him behind! And Houston jumped right in her vehicle the first chance he got! So she began to work her social media and NYBC received multiple messages from followers asking to help. We have named him Houston and we promised Amanda that we would do whatever is necessary to help him and NYBC is committed to his well-being. Houston is now in a hospital in Texas where he is having diagnostic testing- x-rays, bloodwork, fecal, etc. Please help us give Houston the care and kindness he deserves.
