HELP ME GET SEEN & ADOPTED!
UPDATE 10/15/2017 It’s is with a broken heart that we must announce that beautiful Sasha has crossed the rainbow bridge. Although Sasha kept rebounding with her strong will to survive and fight the cancer that was attacking her, her heart physically could not continue. She passed from respiratory arrest.
Her gentle, loving fosters and rescuer wants everyone to know how grateful they are for you helping Sasha all these weeks giving her a new day and a closer one to experience love. She went through so much abuse before being rescued and severe medical treatments and still remained gentle until the very end.
They are also thankful for her foster family waiting for her in Texas that wanted to open their hearts and home to such a special girl but her body was too broken. Thank you for giving her a reason for fighting. We are all devastated and although far apart, we all know and feel the love that Sasha inspired in all of us.
Rest easy sweet Sasha. You are now free to run and play with the others. Let the angels care for you. Sasha, you are loved deeply.
We have a very special case that we will be assisting with. A woman contacted us after reaching out to countless stateside rescues and receiving no response. This woman was reaching out on behalf of a young lady in Honduras who single handedly is caring for numerous abused and neglected animals in a place where resources are scarce.
Meet sweet pitte Sasha – Sasha is about 6 years old. She belonged to a person who upon realizing the dog was sick – left her out to die…she was infested with fleas and ticks, parasites coming out of her wounds, a giant mass on the side of her head and tumors throughout her body. Sasha was taken in by her rescuer Melissa and the journey to save Sasha commenced.
The scars you see on Sasha’s head are from surgery – the removal of a large mass that has been sent out away for a biopsy as the veterinarian in Sao Pedro Sula does not have those services nearby out of the the scars on her body are possibly from abuse from her owner. Sasha has also started a form of chemo that has not been easy on her body but she has been a warrior. She’s docile with people and loves human attention. Sasha has to travel on the back of a open truck with no gate to and from her veterinary appointments that are about an hour away.
Veterinarians, pet stores and even bags of dog food are hard to come across. Sometimes there is no food for the dogs this young woman;s care and her dogs eat bread and chips.
NYBC will be taking over Sasha’s care and will bring her to us once she is cleared for travel. We have also committed to helping this young woman Melissa with food and some basic necessities for her other rescues.
We know there are dogs all over the world who need our help – we are grateful for this young woman who alone, is doing so much in a place where there is so much need. We hope that our help can give her the strength to keep moving forward.
