HELP ME GET SEEN & ADOPTED!
3/22/18 – It is with our deepest sorrow that we must announce the passing of beautiful Keenan. Although Keenan’s time with us was brief, he was our dog from the moment he was surrendered. As we searched for answers and clues while The UPenn ICU Team tried to save him, Keenan’s body had been suffering for some time before we received him. The NYBC family is heartbroken and defeated. We always hope to be the supporting factor in a dog’s journey to find his furever home. So when we have to say goodbye to a beautiful soul that we never had a chance to celebrate and enjoy is a crushing pain. We are asking ourselves that maybe if we were told the truth about his complete health history from his owners originally, the outcome would’ve been different. But the reality is Keenan’s body was broken inside. He was tired and couldn’t recover from the severe brain damage that ultimately took him from us.
So we will remember Keenan as the handsome, quiet boy that gave us joy. And we will continue to help those that need a force to speak for them. We celebrate you Keenan, run like a puppy with the angels, free of pain.
You are loved Keenan.
ICU CARE 3/21/18- The ICU team at UPenn is doing everything they can for Keenan. He is in grave condition. His diabetes is just one issue, he also severe abnormal electrolyte levels and severe brain disease. Since his seizure yesterday morning, his mental condition worsened. PRAY FOR HIM! 🙏🏻Please surround him with your kindness and support.
EMERGENCY! PLEASE HELP! 3/20/18 Keenan is being rushed to UPENN by ambulance! After 1 night at the rescue, Keenan refused to eat, he was then taken to our local vet. His glucose was severely high which at that point Keenan went to the emergency hospital to stay overnight. He was released the next day. Something seemed off with him, so we retuned back to the local vet. His sugar was OK but he then had a grand mal seizure at the vet! Keenan is not well and he is being transported from Long Island to UPenn where they can diagnose and care for Keenan with 24 hour care. Please, help us get Keenan the care he needs. We are trying to get his history from the people that surrendered him and it is looking like there was more to his story than was claimed.
We have since found out that this was their personal dog and that they did not want to deal with the urinating that came along with the diabetes.
Keenan was living at the same junkyard that senior Diesel lived before he found a loving foster home to live the rest of his days. Can you please step up to help Keenan out? He has lived with other dogs, he is good boy that can use a gentle, calm environment to call home. He will need to have his meds administered so please be mindful when applying.
