HELP ME GET SEEN & ADOPTED!
4/28/17 UPDATE – Invisible to the humans around him, sleeping on the streets of Puerto Rico for years, meet Bobby Stone.
His condition is so poor, skin literally encrusted in scabs, filled with parasites and eye infections, this aging boy seemed like a ghost wandering among the public.
We will never know how old he actually is because of the horrendous condition of his teeth. Probably from eating rocks and wood, really whatever he could find to try to fill his starving belly.
This case seems like Mr. Hicks all over again. His rear leg swollen and unable to touch the ground, rescuers feared that is was broken which would possibly mean amputation.
Our colleagues, Pitbull Rescues Survivors in Puerto Rico, asked if NYBC could help and one look at him we said “Yes.”
Bobby has been living at the hospital for almost 3 weeks. Medicated baths, multiple antibiotics for different infections, anti-inflammatory meds, and TLC.
At first, he was petrified, scared of humans. Who were these people trying to touch him? Help him.
He now looks forward to daily visits from his new friends, he enjoys his baths and likes to walk on the grass with his caregivers at the hospital.
His hind leg seems to be slightly less inflamed. It is suspected that it was either a bite wound or puncture that infected the joint and the antibiotics and anti-inflammatory meds are giving him some comfort.
Bobby has a long road ahead of him, his doctor thinks at the very least one more month at the hospital. He still has to start to put on some healthy weight before they can even consider sterilization and removing a tumor on his shoulder.
4/15/17 UPDATE – It is a long road ahead for Bobby. He’s starting to settle in and enjoy the comfort of a human hand. There are multiple tumors on his malnourished body that will be addressed once he is able to have surgery. He has sarcoptic AND demodex mange. This poor dog has been living with a BROKEN HIND LEG! He is anemic and has a high burden of parasites. He also has Ehrlichia, a tick borne disease, and is severely malnourished. We do not know yet if the leg has to be amputated!
Let Bobby know that there are humans out there that care about him!
UPDATE – HE IS SAFE BUT TERRIBLE SHAPE – He reminds us so much of Mr. Hicks, we cannot turn away. Our colleagues from Pitbull Rescues Survivors set out to find him and take him to safety. He will receive medical attention immediately. Just living alone, people blindly walking by day after day. In Hicks’ memory we will help this boy and give him comfort for the rest of his days. Just left on the street, horrific condition. We were asked if we could help him. Stay tuned for medical updates as soon as we receive information. Pray for him please.
His name is Bobby Stone. If you can contribute to his future medical care, please do.
