HELP ME GET SEEN & ADOPTED!
UPDATE: Roofus and his parents, including his grandpa arrived to UPENN in the middle of the night. It is heartbreaking to see him like this, as he is scared and confused. The doctors got him comfortable and an MRI has been completed. As anticipated, he needed immediate surgery, and is prepped at this moment. The MRI showed a disc herniation which in order to hopefully correct and achieve the best possible prognosis, surgery within the 24 hour period is necessary. We fully trust the doctors and have instructed them to do EVERYTHING in their power to give Rufus the very best chance of walking again. PLEASE PRAY AND PLEASE DONATE TO RUFUS’ EMERGENCY SURGERY!
NYBC alumni Rufus needs to call upon the NYBC family tonight in his dire time of need. He presented with mobility issues earlier today and worsened to the point of complete immobility. Time is of the essence. It is crucial in this scenarios to receive treatment and any necessary surgery within 24 hours of the onset of immobility, and we are praying that their speedy actions will help in his prognosis! We immediately instructed his parents to bring Rufus to UPENN who we fully trust to give Rufus the very best diagnosis and care. They are en route as we write this, and we are going to need your support to help RUFUS. He is scared, and clearly confused as to why he can’t get up or use his back legs.
Our gentle PR Prince Rufus has had a Cinder”fella” story; he escaped PR after the hurricane when we set forth a massive initiative to bring 55 dogs here to help with the post hurricane crisis. Luckily for him, he was a last minute add on to our transport list, and he quickly became a staff favorite! He waited so long for a family to see all his wonder and beauty! Finally a fabulous family came to the facility and saw what we always saw, a gentle and loving pittie prince in need of a home. They fostered him for some time before finalizing his adoption quoting they couldn’t see their lives without him in it! Just as it seemed like smooth sailing was set, we received a frantic plea tonight from his parents. Rufus was taken to a local emergency vet when he presented with mobility issues. They prescribed some medication and sent him home. As the day progressed, Rufus’ condition seemed to worsen and he eventually went completely limp in his hind legs. Scared, worried and crying, his mama got in touch with us and was distraught over the possibilities the local emergency hospital was presenting to them including surgery, paralysis, and the unknown.
Please support Rufus and his emergency medical. He needs us more than ever now.
