AMPUTATION SURGERY DONE FOR CHAMP-Baby boy Champ is recovering from front leg amputation surgery. Champ was hospitalized this weekend after his foster noticed a foul order coming from the leg wound and Champ started to exhibit pain so he was rushed to the hospital. He was on IV meds but the infection was too severe so amputation surgery was necessary. Due to the severe infection from the paw injury, Champ had already lost 2 “toes” and the skin and fur was eaten away by the bacteria. Doctors tried to save the limb, but the infection was too aggressive.
Our dear colleague reached out to NYBC about Champ after rescuing a litter of puppies living on the street in Puerto Rico. One of the babies was badly injured and needed immediate medical treatment. His leg was in severe condition with a raging infection.
The group of college students that helped with his rescue and brought him to the clinic named him CHAMP. Please consider donating to Champ’s emergency surgery and hospitalization. He is a very sweet little boy that does not deserves such pain and sadness.
