We rescued Maia in 2023 from severe abuse in Mexico, where she was 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗱, 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝗳𝘁 𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲, alongside Kemp. We brought them to New York, where they were adopted together.

Unfortunately, things are no longer working in the home.

Maia and Kemp have been experiencing increasing tension and conflict, and for their safety, we have made the decision to 𝘀𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺.

Maia is a beautiful blue & white girl who is deeply loyal and affectionate once she trusts you. She loves to cuddle, burrow under blankets, and lay in the sun.

With the right family, Maia will make an incredible companion. She needs a confident owner, structure, and consistency; she thrives on routine.

Maia can be protective and has had an incident with visitors during heightened situations, especially with both dogs together, where she nipped. She needs clear boundaries and someone who understands her.

She is currently on Prozac, which has helped her.

Maia has one eye from past trauma, but it doesn’t slow her down at all.

She has survived so much. She just needs the right environment to finally feel safe and thrive.
